light of my life
light of my life
oh the season to be merry and jolly. what a time christmas is, truly. michael bublé and mariah carey playing non stop on every public premises; family coming back to town and gathering for some coffee-flavoured catch ups. the only thing missing in this equation is snow but we are doomed with a warm weather 90% of the year and sadly, december is never one of the lucky few times of the year where we get a true winter weather. luckily for me, i got 5 solar panels and the willingness to have my ac’s turned on all the time.
i lied, though, we only get together every 2 years, as is tradition to spend a year with one side of the family and the following with the other. such is not my case, that’s why i enjoy it when it’s our year. a little bit of a backstory: i am the second oldest cousin, being that my brother are non-identical twins, the both count as “the oldes cousins”. i take the second spot. and every year we got together, my cousins were too young to spend a whole evening the 8 of us all together.
this year, they weren’t.
depicted in this instax, is the first time we got almost all together for a cousins-only reunion. we missed helluva lot my brother alejandro, but he couldn’t make it. this happened just 3 days after the family dinner. we were super excited. oh, of course, it was +1 for everyone of them.
there’s a photo of us cheering good health to our grandma, as she said she was worried that the first time this was happening, we were only getting drunk together (not the case). but we all had a poison of choice and cheered for her!
my family is the biggest blessing i have. i could spend hours talking about each of those human beings: my brothers, amirita, nil, emi, rodo, eli. as of writing this, i have my two sisters-in-law that i also love: maty and itzel. i’ll never stop being grateful for having them in my life and being my family. every relationship must be cultivated, i’m sure of that. that’s why i was utterly happy to welcome them for the first of many. they will always count on me.
